Self portrait from a photo

Did my best to not use the actual photo as part of the piece (like as a background layer), instead just used it for reference.

Prequel

So I discovered this webcomic called MS Paint Adventures.  It's basically a comic that people comment on and send in ideas for where they want the story to go or what they want the characters to do.  Then the artist chooses the responses he likes and adjusts the comic accordingly.  All done in MS Paint, obviously.

Anyway, because of this I also encountered a similar comic named Prequel, that I just fell in love with.  The art is simple and adorable, the humor is great, and its freakin' Elder Scrolls!

Adorable Katia

Makes me want to try to do my own.  Just to keep me doing art.

Newest cat piece

Meagan and I made a giant 6 ft tall cat tower and covered it in carpet.  The cat loves it.  This is a photoshop piece I did based off a photo I took of her hiding in her little cat house at the base of the tower.

Been thinking alot lately about design and my art and how I need to just really start cranking out some good stuff for a portfolio that I could potentially use for job interviews.

Might even make my own website to replace this blog, or redo this one in a design more unique to me.

Sofia doodle

Forgot about adding this to the blog.

Did a doodle of Sofia in photoshop while recording the desktop with fraps, then pieced together the video in Adobe Premiere and uploaded it to youtube!

Dark Souls shield design contest

So theres this game coming out in october called Dark Souls, and their facebook page has announced a shield design contest for the fans.

Basically they supply you with three different shield templates (kite, tower, round) and then you do your lil design for it, upload it to their facebook page and supposedly people would be able to vote on which ones they liked best.  The top three shields get added into the game, the artist's names are entered into the credits and you get a copy of the game signed by the director.  Good stuff!

Unfortunately it seems that instead of allowing everybody to vote on whichever shields they find the most artistically pleasing, only your friends are able to vote on the ones you submitted and vise versa.  So it turns the contest into a 'who can get the highest number of their friends to vote for them' instead of a actual design competition.  Lame.

EDIT:  This isn't the case anymore, apparently their flash code was just wrong.

Eitherway, I did a design for the round shield before I discovered this fact.

2 or 3 hours of photoshop.

I had fun doing this, so I still might do a design for the other two, even though it seems highly doubtful I'll make the top ten anymore.

Would've been pretty cool to be one of the winners....
